Midlands Metal Mania to hit Mullingar in the form of 9th Life
A new and totally home-grown metal band called 9thLife are set to come screaming onto the Irish metal scene. They say that Mullingar is the "Metal Capital" of the midlands - well at least that's the case according to comedian Karl Spain, but to further re-confirm that proud label, new band 9thLife will be launched on Friday next, and where better to kick-off this new band than in the metal hub of the Stables, Mullingar. The band, made up of Colm Kerr from Raharney on vocals and rhythm guitar, Paul Clear on bass and backing vocals, Luigi Franzine from Leixlip on drums and Ray from Portlaoise, have been writing their own material for the past year in their very own purpose built-studio in Raharney, and are now ready to launch themselves into the public eye. Described as having the anthems and melodies of Queen, with the heavy metal sound of Metallica, though almost a contradiction in terms - 9thLife shouldn't work, but in fact they really really do! And that's why it's so exciting. Two other great bands will support 9thLife on the night, including the reputable The More I See, who will be flying in from London to perform at the gig, and Dublin's Killface.
