Mixed weekend for Kinnegad teams

ADSL Under 16Kinnegad 3Temple Villa 2This was overall a great team performance from our Under 16s. They started brightly and controlled the game from early and got off to a flyer with a goal from striker Conor Kavanagh who took a shot from outside the box and placed it into the top corner. The whole team played as a unit from the midfield two of Gary Caffery and Dale Gibney to the centre backs especially Luke Corless who had an excellent game and is starting to find great form and there was also a great performance from Mark Kiernan.A mention must be made of the new captain marvel Stevie Stewart with his relentless running and topped of with another goal in as many games. Gary Caffery scored the third with a close range tap in. Then to complicate things, two forced errors giftee Temple Villa two goals. The pressure was on for the last five minutes but we held on.ADSL Under 12 Div. 1Kinnegad Juniors AFC 2Temple Villa 2Both teams served up some fantastic football. Kinnegad went behind early on after being caught sleeping but bounced back with a great goal from Kevin McEwen. However, the away team, who started the game in third place three, points behind Kinnegad went ahead again soon after the half time break. Kinnegad then piled on the pressure and with ten minutes to go equalised with a wonder goal from David Etcheri, created from nothing and drilled into the top corner. Both teams had chances to win it late on but a draw probably a fair result. The pressure is all on Connaught Celtic now to hang on to top spot with both these teams breathing down their neck!ADSL Under 10 CupKinnegad Juniors AFC 0Ballinasloe 3(Agg 5-6)Kinnegad Under 10s suffered a very disappointing 3-0 defeat against Ballinasloe Cubs. Kinnegad started the game very slowly and quickly conceded two very soft goals. Kinnegad eventually pulled themselves together and began to dominate the game and putBallinasloe under increasing pressure and but for a number of superb saves from the Ballinasloe goalkeeper Kinnegad could have equalised before half time. Kinnegad started the second half as they ended the first half completely on top with Dylan Dixon and Sam O'Mahony dominating the Ballinasloe attack and providing Kean Fox and Eoin Bracken with an endless supply of possession who in turn made a string of chances for Adam Woods who is normally prolific in front of goal. He was continually thwarted by a Ballinasloe goalkeeper who was in superb form. Kinnegad will take a valuable lesson from the game and that is the game starts as soon as the referee blows the first whistle.    MembershipMembership money and forms are now overdue.
