The grass is greener... on the air side!

Some 220 acres of grass from Dublin Airport is being made available to farmers.

With good weather conditions in place, cutting began yesterday afternoon, and the grass is being donated to farmers in order to help alleviate the fodder crisis.

A spokesperson for the DAA said “The grass at Dublin Airport is managed in order to deter birds nesting or feeding on the airfield and cutting is managed in a specific way so that airport operations are not affected.

“We are delighted that the grass from our airfield is going to farmers who need it to feed their livestock. The operation is being co-ordinated with the DAA’s grass cutting team and the IFA,” the spokesperson said.

The grass is being donated free of charge – farmers should contact the IFA directly to find out more.
