Midlands Lean Conference

The Midlands Lean Conference took place on Thursday October 3 in the Mullingar Park Hotel.

Organised by the Midlands Lean Network and the Mullingar Chamber of Commerce in association with IDA Ireland, Local Enterprise Office Westmeath, Enterprise Ireland and Jigsaw Consulting, the event was a huge success.

For those that have never heard of ‘lean’, it can be described as creating greater value for the consumer while using fewer resources. A business adopting lean principles will try to eliminate waste and increase operational efficiency.

Speakers from large companies including Rosderra Irish Meats and Panelto Foods shared their experiences of their ‘lean’ journeys alongside micro businesses like Ortus Technologies and Mullingar firm, ADATA. Different sectors, different scales but all with the same aims of becoming more efficient, productive and competitive.

The Local Enterprise Office Westmeath provided information on support services available including the Lean for Micro Grants and the new Productivity Vouchers due to be launched in October.

The Midlands Lean Network brings together excellence in the region and provides a forum to network, collaborate and learn. The network is free to join and organises regular site visits to companies who showcase their lean operational practices.
