Cullion HC comes to CJ’s aid

During the lockdown period after St Patrick’s Day many GAA clubs organised fundraising events for different causes, and among them were Cullion Hurling Club, who became aware that CJ Clarke was seriously ill and that his family were incurring significant costs relating to his care.

CJ, who is just 19 years of age, played with the club when he was younger, and has acquired a rare and serious illness.

In late March, club members decided to undertake a challenge in order to raise funds, and in May an event was organised and the response from members and supporters exceeded by far the expectations of the organising committee.

On Friday August 7, CJ’s parents Mary and Martin accpeted the proceeds of the event. They expressed their thanks to Cullion Hurling Club, the organising committee and especially to Robbie Gillen, who co-ordinated the event (see photo above).
