Mullingar Community College welcome back ‘Class of 2020’ students

Principal Seamus Mohan and the staff of Mullingar Community College were delighted to welcome back Jessica Keane and Max Gunning from the ‘Class of 2020’ this week.

Their exceptional results in this year’s Leaving Certificate placed among the highest achieving students in Longford and Westmeath ETB.

Jessica has accepted her first preference from this year’s CAO offers and is going to train to become a home economics teacher in St Angela’s College.

Max was also offered his first preference (quantity surveying in Sligo) – however, he has opted to defer his place until 2021 and will return to Mullingar Community College next week to begin a PLC course in Computer Applications and Technology.

Aside from their outstanding academic achievements, Mr Mohan commended both Jessica and Max on the “important contribution which they have made to our school community over the last five years”.

He said: “They are truly a credit to themselves, their parents, and their teachers.

“It was great to be able to welcome them both back to Mullingar Community College and the occasion presented us with the bonus of being able to wish Jessica a very happy 18th birthday!

“On behalf of myself and all the staff of Mullingar Community College, we wish Jessica, Max and their Leaving Certificate 2020 classmates every continued success, as they prepare to undertake the next stage of their education or training over the coming weeks.”
