Mullingar Town Band notes

The Mullingar Town Band had a busy term in the run-up to Christmas. Online band rehearsals and classes for the senior band, junior band, colourguard, recorder and drum classes were in full swing via Zoom throughout October to December.

Those couple of months allowed enough time to prepare a few of the usual Christmas carols and to get into the Christmas spirit.

Fortunately, the band had the opportunity to perform in small ensembles and socially distanced on the Market Square and Dominick Square to bring some Christmas cheer to the people of Mullingar.

It was a great boost to the members and a reminder that we are all still here, albeit behind computer screens for now.

A small group of band members finished the band year 2020 at 10pm on Christmas Eve on Dominick Square playing to some family and passers by on their way to and from Masses.

While that was an enjoyable performance, the quiet on the streets of Mullingar was a little surreal.

Everyone in Mullingar Town Band is hoping for a better year ahead and looking forward to getting back to playing music together for everyone in the not so distant future.

The committee and members of the Mullingar Town Band would like to wish everyone a happy new year.
