Nature is in good hands

Children have returning to school and thankfully the spring weather has been bright and sunny, making everything a little more enjoyable.

The children have been working hard at home since the end of the Christmas holidays, trying also to get outside for some fun and fresh air.

One group of neighbours and friends in Rochfortbridge has been particularly busy working on a project set up by one of the members at the beginning of the Christmas holidays.

Seven-year-old Sadie Arthur set up The Gortumbloe Boreen Animal Rescue Group on December 20 last.

The group patrols the area for animals and wildlife that might be in need of assistance or care.

The group meet weekly, on a local boreen, out in the open air to allow for social distancing.

It is great to know our local natural habitat is being monitored and cared for by such wonderful little nature spotters.

They are an inspiration to us all at a time when we might have some new ideas of ventures of our own.

Sadie Arthur, from Rochfortbridge, founder member of The Gortumbloe Boreen Animal Rescue Group.
