Glenisk continues to regain market share

Offaly-based organic dairy company, Glenisk, is continuing to regain market share after a devastating fire completely gutted the plant last September.

Glenisk organic yogurt dropped from being the number one brand in Ireland to number ten, but Managing Director, Vincent Cleary, confirmed to the Offaly Independent this week that it has now climbed to number six on the home market following the resumption of yogurt production in February of this year.

“We are a bit like the Offaly team, we are on the rise,” he said, adding that the company hopes to regain the number one slot by the autumn.

While currently engaged in detailed discussions on the building of a brand new state-of-the art plant on the site of the original plant in Newtown, on the outskirts of Killeigh, Mr Cleary expressed the hope that they will be in a position to announce details of their plans within the next month.

“The sooner we can break soil on the building of the new plant the better,” he said, adding that the ongoing support and goodwill shown to the company since last September’s fire, both locally, nationally and internationally has been “simply overwhelming”.
