The Downs GFC launches its Healthy Clubs initiative this Thursday evening

‘Healthy bodies, healthy minds, healthy clubs’ is the motto of The Downs GAA club as it launches the Healthy Clubs initiative into the club this Thursday evening.

Dr Aoife Lane, Head of the Sports and Health Sciences Department at TUS and founder of the Women’s Gaelic Players Association will be among the guest speakers on the night.

She served in the first National GAA Health and Well-being Group and is currently chair of the Gaelic Games Sports Science Advisory Group. She is also director of the SHE Research Group.

Senior county players, Lucy Power and Luke Loughlin will also speak at the event.

The Healthy Club project aims to embed a healthy philosophy into clubs while bringing health into the day to day club activities in a sustainable way.

It aims to place the local GAA club at the heart of the community.

All parents, players, coaches and children over 13 years are welcome to The Downs Clubhouse at 6.15pm this Thursday evening June 30.
