Muiríosa Foundation seeking new staff across midlands region

The Muiríosa Foundation are seeking new staff in Westmeath and across the midlands, and have been holding recruitment events, including one at the Mullingar Park Hotel on Thursday March 2.

At the open day in Mullingar, members of the public met Muiríosa Foundation staff and managers, as well as some of the people they support.

The Muiríosa Foundation team aimed to attract new frontline staff, support workers with relevant Healthcare QQI Level 5 (or a willingness to take the course), qualified social care workers, staff nurses (RNIDs and others).

They were also eager to speak to anyone with an interest in the areas of intellectual disability and social care. Senior secondary school students considering their career options were especially welcome.

Siobhán Bryan, chief executive, Muiríosa Foundation, was delighted with attendance at the event. Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, she said: “We’re here to meet people who maybe haven’t considered a career in disability services before. We’re open to talking to people of all backgrounds and interests, but ultimately with someone who has a value basis around supporting people to have ordinary lives in ordinary places, which is what we, as an organisation, aspire to do.

“We are recruiting staff in all midland counties and beyond – Westmeath, Meath, Offaly, Laois, Longford, Kildare, and Tipperary. We’ve had a number of careers evenings and this evening, we’re particularly interested in people looking for work in the areas of Mullingar, Delvin, Athboy, Castlepollard and the hinterland of Mullingar.

“We’re talking to people about all sorts of roles, such as support workers, social care workers, nurses and managers,” said Siobhan.

The benefits of a career with Muiríosa Foundation include paid sick leave, paid maternity leave, employee assistance programme (EAP), public service pension, tuition reimbursement, health and welfare programme, generous annual leave and other family-friendly benefits. They also deliver a QQI Level 5 course in-house, and support staff in the undertaking of further studies.

The Muiríosa Foundation provide services to individuals who have an intellectual disability or are autistic, and their families. They help people live self-directed, connected and fulfilling lives.

The foundation is a voluntary health organisation funded by the HSE, operating in more than 30 locations across the midlands, including, Mullingar, Delvin, Athboy, Monasterevin, Naas, Kildare, Rathangan, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Abbeyleix, Stradbally, Tullamore, and Birr.
