Westmeath and Offaly announce teams for LGFA clash

The Westmeath and Offaly teams for this Sunday's TG4 Leinster LGFA Intermediate Championship game have been named.

The neighbouring counties will meet in their opening Group B fixture this Sunday in Offaly LGFA's usual base of Bretland Park, Clara (throw-in 2pm).

Westmeath are captained by Milltown's Kelly Boyce Jordan and, in attack, Michael Finneran's side will be looking for scores from the likes of Ciara Blundell, Anna Jones and Aoife Connolly.

Some members of the Offaly team are well known in Westmeath for their footballing exploits while students in Moate Community School, such as team captain Róisín Ennis, Amy Gavin Mangan and Saoirse McGuinness. See below for both team line-ups.

Offaly found the going tough in Division 3 of this year's Lidl National League, but they still managed to preserve their status in the third tier, having gained promotion last year.

Westmeath suffered relegation from the Senior Championship ranks in 2022, and they will be aim to bounce back at the first attempt in the TG4 All-Ireland series.

But before the All-Ireland series comes into view, there is a Leinster title up for grabs. The provincial winners and finalists will be seeded for the group stages of the All-Ireland championship which provides additional motivation.

The other Leinster teams competing at intermediate level are Kildare, Longford, Louth, Wexford and Wicklow. Louth and Wicklow are in Group B along with Westmeath and Offaly

Meath, Dublin and Laois are the only three Leinster counties competing in the senior championship.
