Council planners approve 104 home estate

Westmeath County Council planners have approved a planning application for a substantial new estate on the outskirts of Mullingar.

KDM Construction Ltd, of The Crescent, Boyle, Roscommon, applied for permission to develop 104 new homes on a site at Ardmore Road, Ballinderry, Mullingar earlier this year.

The developer comprises 17 two-bedroom terraced homes, 50 three-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses, 32 four-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses, one detached four-bedroom bungalow, and a small apartment block with four one-bedroom units.

The proposed site spans just over eight acres. The application includes a request to build a single-storey crèche, and install 199 car parking spaces, 232 bicycle parking spaces, and a 0.37-hectare green space, alongside private gardens and play areas for children.

Westmeath County Council planners approved the plans subject to 24 conditions.
