Killucan girls enjoy Barcelona experience
Two Killucan girls, Cara Heard and Sarah Murphy, spent a weekend in Salou, Spain, in early November, taking part in a girls soccer competition organised by The Barcelona Experience.
They trialled for and were selected to play for East of Ireland, and met up against similar teams representing Scotland, Northern Ireland, and England.
Cara (Enfield Celtic) represented the u11s, and Sarah (Kinnegad Juniors) the u12s.
Cara had the special treat of playing against the FC Barcelona u11 girls who also competed in the competition. The Irish girls more than held their own and held off the Barca girls in a competitive match that ended in a 1-0 loss for the tourists.
Both girls thrived in amongst hundreds of their peers, playing matches in the Tarregona Stadium and the Mediterranean Sports Hub in Salou, and to top the weekend off watched Gimnàstic de Tarregona play Athletico Madrid B from front row seats.
