Mullingar's Christmas Music Festival
Some Christmas festival spirit is coming to town on Sunday, December 6, when Mullingar will be transformed into a musical market town. With five different music stages scattered throughout the town to appeal to all tastes, from Christmas carols to good rocking Christmas tunes, the Christmas spirit will be alive in well around the town, including the Market Square, Dominick Place, Pearse Street, Mount Street and Castle Street. The Market Square Stage will play host to classical concerts and choirs from 12 noon until 6 o'clock that evening, with The Army Pipe and Drum Band, The Lakeland Swing Band, Mullingar Choral Society,the Midlands Youth Orchestra, classical pianist Kathy Byrne, the African Gospel Choir and Mullingar Educate Together Choir. On Pearse Street a new bands stage will be parked featuring some of Mullingar's hottest up and coming acts including The Sunday Jumpers, The Shy Talks, P45, Arrow in the Sky, Mystery White Boys, Autofly and Seven Days. At Dominick Place, the main stage will play host to The Egg and Spoons, the UK's Kate Tempest and The Book Club Boutique, The Swarbriggs, The Tennessee Breakdown Band, Ever 27, Marty Mulligan, with special guests yet to be announced. On Mount Street there will be music, song, dance and drama from around the world with bluegrass americano band Gone to Grass, scenes from the upcoming panto Jack and The Beanstalk with the Mullingar Panto Group, Dance Factory, the Belly Dance Troupe, Kurdish Dancers, The Whiskey River Band and Seven Days. On the Castle Street stage there will be world music with top djs and bands playing an eclentic mix of easy listening Jazz, funk, pop and swing, plus lots, lots more.
