Noel Cox: a personal tribute from a friend

Noel has left us. On the evening of the 10th of November 2009 at approximately 6.50 p.m., the biggest and kindliest heart in Mullingar stopped beating. Noel Cox had passed away.I know that Helen, his darling mother in Heaven, was waiting to take him in her arms once more, and I am sure that he and his mother are now wrapped very tightly in the arms of our Blessed Lord Jesus.Noel was a very hard-working, independent man, who endeared himself to everybody. He will be remembered for his great good humour, his love of life, his Christian ideals and kindness. His interests were many and varied and he was very generous with his time for the organisations and groups with which he became involved.Music was his first love and he enjoyed singing with his beloved St. Paul's Folk Group and Choir, of which he was a stalwart and valued member. He was also an associate member of the Mullingar branch of O.N.E.T.A great MUllingar man, he was proud of his heritage and contributed in many ways to the betterment of the town. He was extremely intelligent and was a master of the computer - which was always appreciated by his friends and colleagues in his place of work, Ginnell and Gray Architects.Noel was my friend, my co-presenter on local radio, my "shoulder to lean on, my counsellor, my 'right arm'".His popularity was evidenced by the large attendance at his funeral.. His passing has been heartbreaking for all of us who loved him. I extend my sincere and deep sympathy to his dad, Michael, his aunts and uncles and his many friends and colleagues.Noel, it has been an honour and a privilege for me to have been your friend.Davy.
