An appeal from a Mullingar postman
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Trevor Thompson.
Last year I watched An Post Special Delivery on television.
It was a programme about how An Post and Eircom, in conjunction with CWU Ireland delivered aid to vulnerable children in different countries.
This year, my colleague Paul O’Neill and I have been selected to fundraise and deliver aid to a social and educational centre in Tiraspol (Moldova) that cares for hundreds of children, many with mental and physical disabilities.
I am a dad to two teenage children.
I have been lucky enough to have a regular job with An Post for the last seven years and my wife is a preschool teacher.
We do our best to ensure that our children eat well, get a good education, participate in sports and other activities so that they have every chance to grow in to well rounded and happy adults.
The contrast between what my children, and a lot of children in Ireland have and what the children in these centres have is huge.
I have received the wish list from the centre – there are no PlayStations, iPods or smart phones. It is blankets, books, school supplies, tables, chairs, food, towels, a washing machine. Things that are often taken for granted here in Ireland.
I guarantee that all monies raised will be spent on items to fill the truck that will be delivered to the centre.
I would appreciate any donation large or small that assist me to grant their wishes and delivery of these vital gifts to them from you.
Donations can be made to Trevor Thompson care of Mullingar Post Office, Mullingar, County Westmeath.
If you have any questions or can offer assistance, please contact me on 085 7107178.
My kindest regards,
Trevor Thompson.
