Sheila Cox, a former teacher at Loreto College, Mullingar, hosts her second art exhibition from next week.

Sheila's journey in art – from Ballymore to Delvin

‘From There to Here Exhibition’ by Sheila Cox

A former teacher is offering a journey through time, incorporating places real and imaginative, in her exhibition ‘From there to here’.

Sheila Cox, nee Rooney, a native of Ballymore, has lived in Delvin for the last 31 years and those two places feature in her latest work, as she says it begins in one and ends in the other.

Always interested in the arts, Sheila graduated from UCD with a degree in Music and Greek and Roman Civilisation.

Subsequently, she studied Art and Design in Education at the National College of Art and Design, where her passion for photography began, under the tutorship of Tony Murray, who inspired creativity and innovation.

At NCAD, black and white film was used and the timeless quality inspired Sheila to do her Licentiateship panel in Black and White.

Sheila spent most of her teaching career in Loreto College, Mullingar, where she taught music, and, for some years, art.

A member of Mullingar Camera Club since 1987, she has exhibited in their group exhibitions annually. Many of her photographs have been published in The Photography Ireland Yearbook. This is her second solo exhibition.

The exhibition runs from September 10 to 21 in the Atrium, County Buildings, Mullingar and the official launch is on Tuesday September 11 at 6pm, when everyone is welcome to attend.
