Shout! The Mod Musical is the inaugural production from MCVG Whiz, a sub-group of Mullingar Charity Variety Group.
MCVG Whiz was established this year to produce quick, no fuss ensemble musical theatre productions, and Shout! is exactly that.
The cast of six women are of varying ages and backgrounds with one thing in common, their love of the Shout! magazine and the fact they seek counsel from formidable agony aunt columnist at Shout!, Gwendolyn Holmes.
Each of the girls represents a stereotypical gal of the era and Gwendolyn represents the conservatism that buckled in the ’60s social scene.
The creative team of Shout! include Greg Bentick, steward of everything you hear as musical director of this predominantly sung show; Chris Corroon, purveying over everything that moves and what they move on, as choreographer and set designer, and Eleanor MacDonagh, painting the pictures you see, as costume, hair, makeup, prop and scenery designer.
The cast of Shout! the mod musical represents the coming together of some of the best known female powerhouses of the midlands amateur musical theatre scene.
Long-standing Mullingar Charity Variety Group members and sisters Joanne and Eleanor MacDonagh are joined by Linda Murray from Athlone and Amanda Cunningham from Rochfortbridge, with stunning Seana Stenson, also from Mullingar, completing the Shout! readership. Comedienne, Aoife Fitzsimons from Tullamore, completes the six as Gwendolyn Holmes.
