Woodcarver Richie Clarke to open new Mullingar Art Room exhibition at Atrium
The members of the Mullingar Art Room group are holding their third exhibition in the Atrium, and invite everyone to join them for the opening event, to talk to them about their work (and enjoy refreshments).
The opening is on Tuesday November 6 (5.45pm) in the Atrium, and the artists are delighted to be showcasing their talents in what they consider to be a wonderful space.
The exhibition will continue on display from November 5 to 16 (9am-5pm).
The paintings on display are oils or acrylics works as well as encaustics with a pleasing mix of styles.
The Mullingar Art Room group meets every Thursday night in a room provided by the Mullingar Charity Variety Group.
Getting involved is a great way to get art back into your life and meet other like-minded people.
Members assist and support each other through sharing ideas and experience.
New members, regardless of standard, preferred medium and technique are always welcome. If you are interested in joining, leave your name and contact details in the visitor book on opening night and someone will be in touch with you.
This year, artist Richie Clarke will perform the official launch of the exhibition. Mullingar born and bred, Richie is an wood carver whose work is influenced by mythology and Irish folklore.
From small decorative pieces to carved tree trunks, Richie displays an impressive mastery of his craft.
You can admire one of his pieces, The Norse and the Gael, in Mullingar Town Park, and a new piece recently commissioned in Belvedere Gardens, and there are pictures of his work on his website, clarkewoodcarving.com.
The Mullingar Art Room exhibition could not happen without the support of the Westmeath County Council Arts Office and the group would like to thank Miriam Mulrennan, arts officer, and Elizabeth Kerrigan from the Arts Office for their help and guidance.
