TEAM Valentine's Ball next week at the Greville Arms

Fidelma Bennett, manager of Teach Fáilte, the homeless hostel run by TEAM, has issued an invite to anyone looking for a good night out to come to the Greville Arms Hotel on Friday February 15.

The event is the Valentine’s Ball fundraiser.

“It’s a Friday night,” said Fidelma, “and we’re hoping to have a full house in the Greville, music by the Big Kahuna, a four-course meal, a Champagne reception on arrival.”

Fidelma said the event is not black tie, it’s a “fun night”, rather than a fully formal occasion, and the members of the fundraising committee are hoping as many people as possible will buy tickets (€50).

TEAM is based at the Parish Community Centre, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar – call 044 934 3432 and book your tickets in good time for February.

Appeal to council for more staff and funding at TEAM

The work being done by Teach Fáilte, a refuge for families fleeing domestic violence, in Mullingar, was applauded by members of Westmeath County Council at their estimates meeting in January. 

(Teach Fáilte is run by Team Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands, which is based at the Parish Community Centre on Bishopsgate Street in Mullingar.)

Cllr Michael Dollard called on the council to provide €10,000 in its estimates to support this work. 
He said that Teach Fáilte is a high support unit for victims of domestic violence and they are doing great work, but they need more staff and more money. 

He asked that the council give €10,000 to TEAM (Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands) to fund this work. He was supported by Cllr Una D’Arcy.

Jimmy Dalton, director of services, gave a commitment to press for funding for TEAM in 2019. He said they would highlight the work done at Teach Fáilte and their pressing need for funding.

Additional funding could therefore bubble to the surface, he said.
