The Festive Season commences with a flourish next Saturday evening in the Mullingar Park Hotel with the Festival of Trees Ball,” which is being organised by the Fundraising Committee of North Westmeath Hospice CLG. Expect glamour, festive fun, sequins, sparkles and style. Local businesses have donated a wonderful assortment of treats which will be shared with attendees. There are Auction items, Raffle Prizes and Table prizes to suit everyone, not to mention a Prize for the Best Dressed Man and for The Best Dressed Woman, all the more reason to ratchet up the style stakes.

Eight magnificently decorated Christmas trees provided by local businesses are among the items for auction. One has been uniquely designed and created from recycled materials by the Westmeath Men’s Sheds. There are three beautiful paintings, oil on board, donated by David O’Shea of The Chimera Gallery. A particularly interesting auction item is 'Walshestown Nero', a spectacular exhibit - but you will need to be at the ball to find out more!

The full list and description of auction items will be provided on the night. Paddy Dunican will lead out on the auction, supported by keen spotters from the Mullingar auctioneering profession. Be careful not to scratch your nose or raise your eyebrow unintentionally as you might be going home with a free range turkey and Clondrisse ham or a Christmas tree.

Exhaustive efforts are being invested by the committee to make this amemorable evening. The Sweet Tunes Choir will serenade, you can dance to the Pick Ups, while Miriam O’Callaghan will act as compere for the evening. Enjoy a sparkling drinks reception followed by a festive dinner with wine, all in the beautiful Mullingar Park Hotel. The evening is kindly sponsored by the local St Colman’s Credit Union.

Please remember that in 2016 more than 170 loved ones, young and old, were cared for by the North Westmeath Palliative Care team and currently North Westmeath Hospice CLG need to raise €250,000 annually just to maintain current services. Our capacity to maintain this vitally important service is directly dependent on your generosity and support. In this regard, you are assured that €60 of your ticket, priced at €100, will go directly to Hospice Home Care Services in your area.

We very much look forward to seeing all of our loyal Supporters on 18 November.
