N4 at Mullingar closed due to 'serious' accident

Gardaí guiding traffic up the entry ramp to get them off the eastbound carriageway at The Mullingar Park Hotel.

Severe traffic delays are expected due to a “serious” collision on the N4 going eastbound out of Mullingar.

The accident is believed to have happened around 2pm close to The Downs Roadhouse.

The entire eastbound carriageway is closed to traffic from The Mullingar Park Hotel to the turn-off from Killucan, and gardaí and emergency services are on the scene.

Vehcicles are currently being guided up the entry ramp by gardaí to get them off the road.

Heavy traffic is expected as festival goers depart Mullingar after the Life festival, and motorists are being advised to choose alternative routes out of town.
