Captain, a Golden Retriever from Ballinagore, is hoping to be crowned the 2018 Nose of Tralee!

Introducing Westmeath's 'Nose' of Tralee

Sinead Lyons' golden retriever 'Captain' is in the running for 'Nose of Tralee'.

Captain, who is described as a "big gentle giant" turns five in November and hopes to be crowned this year's Nose of Tralee.

Representing Westmeath in the Pet Sitters Ireland 5th annual Nose of Tralee Pet Contest, Captain has the chance of winning the title Of Nose of Tralee 2018, as well as a €200 Pet Sitting and Dog Walking Voucher; a Photo Shoot with David MaCauley Photography including canvas image

"He's a beautiful dog. He's so good with children, anyone who comes through the door he greets them with a big smile, and even brings his toys to show them," laughs Sinead, who adds that he even helped her fiancé propose.

"He carried the engagement ring for him."

Speaking of his personality, Sinead who is from Mullingar and living in Ballinagore, says Captain is a typical golden retriver.

"He loves his grub and he's very clever. He loves walking, he's just a beautiful dog."
