Two Irish Legends bring band to Mullingar

Two of Ireland’s best ever blues/soul musicians, Don Baker and Rob Strong, have
collaborated to record a brand new album “ A Day in Jealoustown” and tour many of Ireland's finest venues in 2018. Most of the 17 concerts on the tour so far have sold out including prestigious venues such as The Draiocht and Mill Theatre Dundrum in Dublin , The Mermaid Theatre Bray, The Riverbank Arts Centre Newbridge and Dolan’s of Limerick. There has been a phenomenal reaction to the four piece band’s live shows which nearly always conclude with a rousing standing ovation each time. The band include the sensational Salvatore Urbano from Naples on keyboards and ex- Van Morrison drummer Hue O’ Neilll and play Mullingar’s Arts Centre this Friday night with tickets available at €20.

Don Baker (68) hails from the heart of Dublin city and has proven to be a prolific

singer/ songwriter/musician for more than 50 years! Don had a huge number one single, 'Winner in You’  in 1993 and was  rated by Bono of U2 as " the best harmonica  player in the world" .As an actor, Don starred ‘In the Name of the Father’ alongside Daniel Day Lewis, and as gangster Thomas Flynn in ‘Fair City’.

The legendary Rob Strong, from Derry is an incredible 71 years of age, plays bass guitar and shares lead vocals with Don and has been performing live for more than five decades! Rob still has that unique, sensational voice that saw him mesmerise huge crowds with ‘The Plattermen’, the top showband of the 1960s era and The Rockets in the 1970s. In 1984 Rob actually turned down the opportunity to join the world famous Deep Purple band. Rob occasionally plays with his son, Andrew Strong (lead singer Deco of ‘The Commitments) when they tour Germany, Denmark and Sweden.

The band are often referred to as the Irish equivalent of the Rolling Stones, in more ways than one! Salvatore Urbano on keyboards. is widely regarded as amongst the best in the business and fuses the band’s blues, soul and rock genres, in such a natural and creative manner. On drums Hugh O’ Neill from Dublin, has also played with Jerry Lee Lewis and Van Morrison.. All in all, Don, Rob and the band, guarantee a great night of real rock n’ roll Live! No backing tracks, no sound effects or lip-sync! Pure raw talent that has stood the test of time- over 50 years on the rock n’ roll road in Ireland and in the process becoming the country’s finest ever exponents of Rock, Soul and Blues!
