Rugby club wants you to ‘Give It a Try'

With Katie Heffernan impressing for Ireland and Leinster, the trio of Méadbh Scally, Ava Jenkins and Ciara Faulkner representing the province at U18 level, and Ellen Taite now part of the Connacht setup, there’s no doubt that Mullingar is providing Irish women’s rugby with key building blocks for the future.

The club itself has enjoyed much success at underage and adult level in recent years, and naturally wants to keep that going well into the future.

With that in mind, Mullingar RFC has launched its new ‘Give It A Try’ campaign for women’s rugby.

Training takes place from 7.30pm to 9pm on Tuesday and Friday nights at Shay Murtagh Park, Cullion, and tonight, the club invites you to take the first step to a career in adult rugby with the Heifers.

“The most important step I made, was the one I took onto the pitch,” says Heifers assistant head coach, Kerrie O’Reilly, when asked about the start of her playing career. Kerrie went on to win numerous medals for the club, including a first ever Leinster League Division 1 and cup double.
