The late Esther Cunningham, Tyrrellspass

There was widespread sadness and regret in Tyrrellspass and surrounding districts on Tuesday, May 6, when news emerged of the death of Mrs. Esther Cunningham (née Quinn), Tore, Tyrrellspass.

Esther (79), who was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1999, went to her eternal reward in the care of the doctors and staff of the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore.

A native of Tore, Tyrrellspass, Esther`s main passion  in life was gardening, and the upkeep of her flowers. Her reputation for baking travelled the world. She was also a dedicated supporter of Gaelic football, and took great pride in Tyrrellspass` and Westmeath`s achievements on the field of play.

Esther`s remains were removed to St. Stephen`s Church, Tyrrellspass on Thursday, May 18, where Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul was celebrated by Fr. Brendan Ferris, C.C., Castletown-Geoghegan, who later officiated at her graveside.

Esther is survived by her sons Charles Jnr., Frank, Michael and Patrick, daughters Mary, Deloras, Margaret, Bridget and Catherine, her sisters Nora, Nelly and Nancy, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sons in law, daughter in law and her many relatives, neighbours and friends.
