Foster and Allen play the Park

On Sunday, October 19 the world famous duo Foster and Allen play the Mullingar Park Hotel. Foster and Allen began in the 1970s when Mick Foster and Tony Allen were playing in country music bands around Ireland.In 1975 they formed a small group and went to the UK to work the Irish music venues on a short tour.It was at this stage that they had the idea of working together as a duo, playing "easy listening" music with a touch of traditional Irish instrumentals - and so Foster and Allen was formed.While working around the circuit in the UK and Ireland, they released their first single The Rambles of Spring, and went on to release the single A Bunch of Thyme in Ireland at the end of 1978. This entered the Irish charts and became their first top-selling Number One single. But it was not until 1982 that this single was released in the UK and was soon in the pop charts - leading to the duo appearing on BBC"s hit music show Top of the Pops.They did their first concert tour of the UK in 1983 and since then they have toured the UK twice each year. In addition, Foster and Allen have toured all over the world and appeared on numerous TV shows. They also presented their own TV series on RTÉ.On the recording front, to date they have released 27 albums and 13 videos, all of which entered the British charts. Their latest DVD/Video release, After All These Years, was a Top 10 chart release in the UK.Foster and Allen celebrated their 30th Anniversary together in the music industry with the release of their new album, Foster and Allen Sing The Number Ones, which was a Top 30 chart hit in the UK during Christmas 2005.
