Sarah and Steve congratulated on their recent wedding
Straight off, congratulations to Sarah Piner and Steve Franzoni on their recent wedding held in Badby, England, near to Sarah"s home town of Peterborough. After many years of playing hard to get, Steve finally decided to make an honest woman of Sarah. The nuptials were duly attended by a number of Wheelers. Cathy Flynn was one of the said attendees and she sent me a photo of the happy couple. My sources also tell me that Mairtin Savage enthralled and appalled (in equal measure) the assembled guests with a display of dancing, the likes of which not been seen since the Wheelers outing to Sligo in April last. Well done Mairtin! There was a Committee meeting on October 13 which I managed to avoid. More about that trip in a minute, but for now, it looks like the AGM will be held on Friday, November 21 at the Annebrook Hotel at 8.00pm. All Wheelers are welcome to attend, and we don"t anticipate any of the shenanigans that took place at last year"s bash when the entire committee was deposed in a "night of the long knives" style coup. The Wheelers Christmas evening is scheduled for Friday, December 5, also at the Annebrook. Again, all Wheelers are welcome, and the annual presentation of awards will take place. Some other matters to note. A morning spin will take place from the dog track at 9.00 every Saturday. This will be more or less a replacement for the Wednesday evening outings which have now ceased as the evenings become shorter. The spin will probably be of about 1- 2 hours" duration and all are welcome. Also, Mairtin Savage has set up a message board for club members and I will try to have more details on that in a week or so.Steve Franzoni is organising Circuit Training classes again this year. They start next Wednesday night at 7pm at the Tennis Club.Any one interested should contact him on 087 9476716 to confirm attendance as the numbers may be limited. He also is working on organising a training day for the club with coach Padraig Marrey and David O"Loughlan (Olympic track participant) possibly for November 8 and 9. I don"t have any other details at the moment, but I hope to be able to let you know soon.Care to join us?Would you like to join us for a cycle? Cyclists of all standards are welcome to come along. We usually meet at the Mullingar dog track at 09.00 on Sunday mornings. Up to four groups now leave from the dog track, including one especially for beginners, or those who may have some cycling experience and would like to see if cycling with a group is for them. Just turn up on any given Sunday, call me on 087 1216 345 or visit our website at lakesidewheelers.ie for information and advice on how to get going.
