Choral Society"s Christmas Concert
The Mullingar Choral Society is currently in rehearsals for its very popular annual Christmas Carol programme which will take place in St. Paul"s Church, Mullingar on Sunday, December 7.This year, Mullingar Choral Society was especially honoured to be invited to sing at the Dublin Concert Band 50th Anniversary Concert in the National Concert Hall in October.The 120 member choir, now one of the largest community choirs in the country, gave full voice to a variety of contemporary pieces including Bohemian Rhapsody, The Rhythm of Life, and Zadok The Priest.This was the second appearance by the Society at the National Concert Hall, as in March, the Society performed Durufle"s Requiem and Jenkins" Armed Man at his prestigious venue.And later next year, in order to mark the choir"s ruby (40th) anniversary, a major choral work called Mendelssohn"s "Elijah" will be performed in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar in March 2009.
