The céilí and set dancing classes continue on Thursday nights in Horseleap Streamstown Community Centre from 8.30 to 10pm.CardsResults from Monday November 3. Raffle winners were: €15, Anne Sheerin; €10. Mickey Carroll; €10, Johnny McManus; €10, Anne Sheerin. The winners on 10 games were Seamus Robbins and Grace Hanraty.Next on 9 games were Eilish McDonnell and Attracta Colgan, Carmel Looram and Joe Malone. The table prize winners were Aidan and Bernadette McCormack, Ger Cooney and Maureen Farrell and each couple received €10. Well done to all of the winners.At this moment the Committee is reviewing the running of the Cards and an appeal is being made once again for card players to return to the game and ensure it feasible to continue.It has been a great tradition for over 20 years now and has kept a steady income going for the running costs. So if you can play cards please make time for the game on a Monday night as a decision will have to be made before the end of 2008!.Annual Table Quiz and AuctionThe annual Table Quiz and Auction in aid of The Caring for Kids Project was held in Ryan"s of Horseleap and was a successful night all round. Well done to the organizers Darragh, Gerry and Eileen Fallon. If you missed the night it is still not too late to make a donation.CongratulationsCongratulations to James Keegan, Lurrig youngest son of Jimmy and Anne Keegan on announcing his engagement to Mairead Cronin from Cork. Wishing James and Mairead every happiness.GraduationCongratulations to Michael Larrigy, Gneevebrack, son of Frank and Margaret Larrigy on his graduation from Carlow Institute of Technology on Saturday with his Bachelor of Science in Construction in Architectural Technology. Michael is now employed with John Madden and Associates.SympathyDeepest sympathy is extended to Nancy Nally, Temple, Horseleap on the death of her brother, Bartie Farrell, Birmingham who passed away on the 26th of October. Mass will be held in Moate at a later date. Deepest sympathy to Nancy and TD, daughter Maria McGuinness, sons, Fergus, Raymond and Damien, Nancy"s brother Colm in Moate, and all of the extended family on their loss.Operation Christmas ChildOperation Christmas Child is celebrating 10 years in existence and this area has been involved for the past 6 years or so. A meeting is taking place in the Community Centre on Monday night next November 17 from 7pm to 9pm, so if possible have your box ready for going. The cost of shipment is still €3 per box.You chose your age group whether it is for a girl 2-4, 5-9 or 10 -14 and the same category for the boys.Please ensure that none of the following are included; medicines or vitamins, war related items- toy guns or soldiers or knives, no large clothing, no glass or mirrors, no liquids of any kind - blow bubbles, shampoo, bubble bath aerosols or toiletry sets. No sharp or dangerous items - scissors, marbles, razors, and no books with words.If any one would like to male a donation to go towards the cost of sending the boxes please contact Concepta Egan on 0862422540St David"s ChurchIn recent times work has been carried out on in St David"s Church grounds in Ardnurcher under the guidance of the Horseleap Streamstown Community Association. Following this work it is now a little easier to look around at the history available there. In the coming months the committee is hoping to raise funds towards the upkeep and maintenance of the graveyard to encourage visitation to this site.Community AssociationThe annual Christmas Concert and fundraising raffle are on Friday the 19th of December. A full list of artists is being drawn up so if you would like to be included please let any Committee member know. Also a list of prizes is also being drawn up.CongratulationsCongratulations and best wishes to Keith and Martina (nee Scally) Daly, Spittlestown, Streamstown on the birth of their son, Owen, a brother for Daniel, Leanne and Ciara. Congratulations to the proud grandfather Donie Scally.ScórOver the past two weekends, St Joseph"s and Kilbeggan St. Joseph"s were out in force in the first round of Junior Scór. Kilbeggan St Joseph"s took part in Ballymore and St Joseph"s travelled to Rochfortbridge last weekend.The performances on both nights were excellent and all participants should be very proud of their performances.Everyone has practiced very hard and credit should also be given to the trainers/mentors who put in a lot of work in getting ready for the first round.Kilbeggan St Joseph"s got through in figure dancing, recitation and novelty act while St Joseph"s got through in recitation, solo singing and novelty act. Both teams will be out again next weekend 14th/15th November in the semi-final.Mini Scór was held during the October bank holiday weekend last and it was great to see the huge turnout of children this year.It is great to see such interest in the Community and the Committee would like to thank all the parents involved in bringing their children down to the Community Centre on the cold winter"s evenings to practice.
