The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show DJ Paul Collins will be master of ceremonies for the Kinnegad Junior dinner dance this Friday January 30 at the Hilamar Hotell, while former Liverpool and Irish international soccer star Ronnie Whelan will be guest of honour.Dinner will be served at 9pm, with guests set to be serenaded by the Manila Strings, a trio of musicians from the Philippines. A disco will take place when the auction is concluded. All funds raised at the forthcoming auction on January 30 will go towards work on the new grounds.Centenary Year Celebrations Begin This SundayThe Kinnegad Church Centenary Year Celebrations will be formally launched at 12 Mass on Sunday 1' Feb. Team members are working on a special liturgy to mark the occasion. The centenary banner will be unveiled after Mass, and a special Centenary candle which will be distributed to each family in the parish during February. Work has begun on a parish website for Centenary Year. You can buy a stamp for €2.00 and fill the Sammy Squirrel Savings card, when the card is full of stamps you can convert them into money. Stamps are an excellent way of introducing children to the habit of saving.  The cards and stamps can be obtained at Kinnegad Credit Union and are available to members and non members.Defibrillator TrainingDefibrillator and General CPR Training will begin in the next few weeks. Anyone interested in the training - which is free - should contact 0876430783. The Defibrillator fundraising has been very successful and three defibrillators have now been ordered. They will be located in St Etchen"s National School, Coralstown National School and in Joe Bracken"s on the Main Street. With one already located in the doctor"s surgery and another in Coralstown Kinnegad GAA club at the back of Manorfield the area is well served. The new units will be presented to the three centres by Kinnegad Community Council, Coralstown Kinnegad GAA and Kinnegad Juniors soccer. As well as members of the three sponsoring groups the Kinnegad community is also grateful to Kinnegad Youth Club and to all the local young people of the area who have raised the funds for this vital facility.Secondary School CommitteeThere will be a meeting about progressing the campaign for a secondary school in Kinnegad on Monday the 9th February at 9 pm in Serenity House. All are welcomeLogo CompetitionKinnegad/Coralstown Community Games are launching a Logo Competition to come up with a logo that will best depict the Community Games in our locality. The logo may then be used on sportswear. This competition is open to all ages and entrants should aim to encapsulate the energy of the Community Games together with the local area. Entrants must be Under 14 on the 31st of July. To mark the Silver Jubilee of Bishop Smith"s Episcopal Ordination a special Mass of thanksgiving will be celebrated in the Cathedral, Mullingar on Sunday 1st Feb 2009 at 3:00pm. 10 more tickets for the event are now available from the Parish Office. They are free and are available to the first 10 people who contact the Parish Office. The parish office is moving back to the grounds of the church.
