The footballers are away in the league this coming Sunday 22nd February to Killucan at 2.30pm. All support will be much appreciated as the new management team look to get the season off to a good start.Ballymore National School - Thank you to Aoife Lynam who supplied maternity cover for Yvonne Heavey who returned to the school last Friday. Aoife is wished all the very best for the future and congratulated her recent engagement. A very special welcome back to Yvonne who starts back full time this week.Confirmation - Preparation Mass for confirmation has been changed to Saturday 21 February 2009 at 8pmDate for your diary - Bingo to raise necessary funds for the school will be held on Monday 16 March 2009.Community Games - U/15 Soccer - well done to Ballymore U/15 team on reaching the semi finals of this competition. To get to the semis the lads beat Delvin 5 goals to 3; Retreat Park 9 goals to 5; and then were unlucky to be beaten in the semi final by Moate 3 to 1.Ballymore Team: - David McKnight, Liam O"Roarke, Einea Kenna, Keith Monaghan, Sam Moran, Michael Reilly and Ben Maxwell. They all played extremely well and it was great for own first year in the soccer competition.Next Sunday the U/13 Soccer team travel to Gainstown for their blitz. They are wished the best of luck. All players should be at training Tuesday night 7pm.Swimming - Local swimming gala takes place Friday 27 February 2009 at 6pm at the Regional Sports Centre.Youth Club - Cooking Lessons - Cooking lessons for the Junior group commences this Thursday 19 February at 7pm. Lessons will be for 5 - 7 children each week (depending on what"s cooking) and will start off with simple recipes.A permission slip must be signed by a parent before children can take part.Valentine Card CompetitionWell done to all those that took part in the valentine card competition.  The winners are Niall McCormack, Conor Whyte, Nicole McKenna and Olivia Cuffe. Prizes will be presented at youth club Thursday night.Leadership TrainingLast week, seven orf the senior youth club members began their leadership induction training.  The course continues this week with 'Pass it On Training' facilitated by Catherine McEntee starting at 7pm. Eileen Kelly will deliver Adult Leadership Training, on Thursday 5th March 2009 from 7-9 pm, for any parents/guardians who missed the initial training session. The Child Protection training will be held on Thursday 12th March. All parents/guardians involved with the Youth Club must complete both these training courses.A reminder - change of times - Thursday 7pm - 8pm  for 9-12yrs and Thursday 8.15pm - 9.15pm for 13-18yrsAdult Leadership Induction Training starts at 7pm on Thursday 26 February 2009 at the centre - for any parents who could make the last training session. It is hoped to run Child Protection courses the following week.Westmeath Rural Community - The board of Westmeath Rural Community Transport Association has recently obtained funding for groups wishing to travel to special events. The type of groups eligible for this funding would be those catering for the disadvantaged or the elderly.Transport to events such as Mullingar Greyhound Track, Kilbeggan races or similar would qualify. Should anyone in the area wish to avail of this service please contact either Joe Flanagan or Patrick McGleenan (board members) for more information.Ancestors - We have been asked to enquire if there are any relations of Abraham Boulger, who died in 1945, living in the parish. If there are could you please supply details to the parochial house.Irish Kidney Association - Thank you to everyone who kindly donated to the collection for the IKA you helped raise €272.97.Rest in peace - Sincerest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of Andy Watson, Geraldine Quirke (nee Norris), Anthony Daly, John Smith, Bernadette Moughty (nee Donlon), Laurance McLoughlin and Mary Kerrigan (nee Duffy) Doniel all of who passed away recently may they rest in peace.Regular events - Monday - Traditional Music lessons have been arranged from 3.30pm to 5.30pm every Monday in the Community Centre. All ages and standards are welcome.Monday night is Bingo night in Ballymore. Regulars will already know that there are great prizes on offer and the craic is mighty. So if you haven"t managed to come along so far why not give it a try, meet up with old friends and make new ones, eyes down from 8pm. If anyone would like to help run the Bingo the Community Centre Committee would love to here from you. Please speak to one of them on the evening and we will add you to the rota.WednesdayBallymore"s indoor bowls club meet every Wednesday evening in the Community Centre from 8pm. The Club has been a successful part of the Community for a number of years now and is always on the look out for new talent as well as those who just want to bowl socially. Why not call in tonight and one of the members would be only too happy to show you around and help get you started.
