Raider ties up Aldi manager

An assault on the assistant manager of Aldi took place on February 13 last, when a raider entered the business premises in Mullingar at 6.20 in the morning.The culprit attacked the manager outside of the premises, striking him across the face, and tying his hands.The man, who was wearing a navy tracksuit and white runners, hid his face from view with a scarf and spoke with an Irish country accent.Early reports suggested the raider had a gun in his hand, but Gardaí have been unable to identify from witness reports and CCTV footage exactly what the man had in his hands.The culprit forced the assistant manager to open the store"s safe, before making his getaway through an emergency exit.The raider took a substantial amount of money, believed to be in the region of €12,000.Anyone with any information relating to this incident should contact Gardaí at Mullingar on 044 9348915.
