Seven hospital beds created by Mullingar fundraising

The Oncology/Haematology Unit of the Midland Regional Hospital at Tullamore was presented with seven Electric Profiling Beds and Mattresses at a special ceremony in the hospital.Which was as a result of a fundraising drive, which netted €21,485.93. The beds were purchased by The Cancer Comfort Fund, following consultation with staff at the Oncology Unit.The Fund was set up by the friends and family of the late Mark Kelleghan, Mullingar who lost his battle with cancer on the July 17, 2007, after been cared for in the unit. Five of the beds are currently at the Oncology Haematology Inpatient Unit and the remaining two beds are in the Day Ward of the unit.To raise the funds the group sold tickets for a mega raffle which was held on July 19, 2008,l at 'The Wood Pub', Crookedwood. The event attracted a very large attendance with hampers and spot prizes on offer throughout the night.The Committee would like to thank Brian Murray, The Wood, those who provided the music on the night and to P Gavin for doing the raffle at the event.
