Ever27 geared up for Danny"s launch

When new Mullingar band Ever27 visited the Westmeath Examiner offices to talk about the launch of their debut single 'The Ground Where You"ll be Livin"' - taking place in Danny Byrne"s on Friday, April 17 - the energy in the air was palpable! And it"s no wonder as this band, formed just three months ago, have hit the ground running.Made up of Brendan McEvoy on vocals and guitar, Paul Feery on lead guitar, Tanya O"Callaghan on bass and Eoin Fitzsimons (aka Pony) on drums, these guys have been living and breathing music both together, and in different line-ups, for years. But it wasn"t till they all met under the one roof in January that something simply gelled.DynamicWhat happens when four talented musicians meet up and want to create something brilliant? Well, it all depends on dynamic, and Ever27 have it in bagloads.Within two weeks of meeting each other these talented four were in the studio laying down tracks and together they discovered they have two things that is key to the dynamic of any band - confidence and focus. The confidence comes from a belief in their own material and sound, plus a strong focus on making something big happen, and one can"t help getting excited about it!'It all happened very naturally,' says frontman Brendan McEvoy. 'The way the whole band came together and everything since, we have been pretty serious about doing it (music), and this just kinda happened of its own accord.'It"s all very natural and it feels very warm when we"re together - I know that sounds a bit mental but it genuinely does.'And Brendan doesn"t lie. What is mental about this band is that they are on the cusp of releasing their debut single, have already penned an album called 'The Ground where You Live', and are talking like a professional group who have been together for years.'We"ve all come from strong starting points as far as influences and melodies go, which we all had individually before we came together,' continues Brendan.'The strongest material though has been written since we joined together as a band and that"s what works,' he says.'The new record "The Ground Where You"ll be Livin"", which is the title track of the album, we nearly can"t believe we"ve written a song of that calibre.'Ever since day dot we"ve been rolling. We got into the studio after two weeks and started recording some demos and laid them down for people. And now we"re at the point of launching the single on the 17th.'Personally I think it"s going to be a phenomenal night. We"ve people coming from all over, including my home town of Mountmellick, and all the guys are well known in Mullingar, so we"ll hopefully have big support on the night.'The musicThe band describe their music as having a very high-energy American feel: 'Every song is pretty much different in it"s own right,' says Tanya. 'We incorporate a lot of different styles, from heavy rock to ballads.'We all have different influences so we"ve managed to blend them all together and come up something that is individual to all of us.''It is a big stage band,' adds Brendan, 'We played Danny"s last Friday. We just got up unannounced as a way to promote the gig on the 17th and the reaction we got was phenomenal, but we do realise we need a bigger stage because we tend to jump around a lot!'It"s a high-energy band playing mainstream/alternative rock. We"ve been influenced by everything from U2, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chilli Peppers to more soulful stuff like Fleetwood Mac.'We all bring something to our music that is different,' continues Brendan. 'I"ve always done original music, and the rest of the band have great experience with covers and doing music the official tablature way, with learning, reading and writing music that way, so we compliment each other that way. We all have different strengths that work really well together.'The launchThe launch of new record will be released in Danny Byrne"s on Friday, April 17, and this band have not held back in pulling out all the stops. With three acts lined up, complete with fire dancers and drummers, not to mention food, the night promises to be an event that will live long in the memory of Mullingar. There is even free food and a exclusive gift from the band which will be given to those coming along to support the guys on the night.'We just want everyone to come along and support us and see what they think of the show,' says Brendan.'We"re putting a massive effort into it. We"re basically trying to do the best job that we can do.'This is an all ticket affair and tickets costing €5 went on sale on Monday, so if you want to be part of this major event, get down to Danny"s a purchase them now.If anyone wants to get in touch with the band with any useful suggestions or if you would like to book them for a gig, check out their website on www.ever27.com or www.myspace.com/ever27band.School of rockEver27 will be touring schools all across the midlands following the record launch and will play for free at schools organising a fundraising event.
