Composer Simon Fagan plays The Stables on Thursday

A classically trained composer and trumpet player, Simon Fagan blends jazz and soul with pop to produce a distinctive, fresh sound in The Stables venue, Mullingar on Thursday, April 9.Having opened for both Lionel Richie and Smokey Robinson, as well as performing lead vocals in The National Concert Hall for the Beatles 'Love' concert, Simon"s been building his reputation as a formidable performer.Adding this to live radio sessions on The Ryan Tubridy show on RTÉ"s Radio One and The Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Ulster, it is no surprise that last year Simon signed a recording deal with Dublin label SiAn Records, which will see him release 2 EPs this year and an album in early 2010.The first of EPs, Hired And Fired was produced by Simon and Martin Quinn of Juliet Turner, Turn, Ham Sandwich fame. Also performing on the night will be Eugene Donegan, a singer/songwriter from Meath who was brought up on the music of Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson, whose songs reflect the honesty and direct approach of said artists. In 1998 Eugene moved to Australia where he met Declan O"Rourke and together they both developed their own songwriting styles which resulted in the seven track 'Donegan/O Rourke' record recorded in a Sydney studio.Since returning to Ireland, Eugene has played support to many of Ireland"s top performers including Declan O"Rourke, Cathy Davey and Mary Coughlan as well as filling local venues like The Spirit Store and McHugh"s. Declan O"Rourke recently produced Eugene"s debut album which is being released to coincide with this tour.Support on the night will be provided by You Kiss By The Book.
