Gaelscoil triumph in final quarter

After spending much of last Sunday"s Cumann na mBunscol Camogie "C" final under the cosh, the girls of Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn, Mullingar produced a game-winning performance. The Mullingar school - managed by Caroline Mhic Roibín and Martina Heffernan - went behind to a second minute goal from St. Feichin"s National School, Fore captain, Shannon Farrelly. With their skipper the most impressive player on the field, Elaine Caffrey"s Fore outfit dominated the first half, and led 1-0 to nil at the break; the north Westmeath side also had a goal disallowed early on.But six minutes after the restart, Gaelscoil"s Sabina Nic Lochlainn - moved outfield after starting in goal - levelled matters with a fine goal, and on 32 minutes, Rebecca Nic Aogáin netted from close range to put the Maroons in front.Nic Lochlainn pointed to extend the Gaelscoil"s lead, and although Fore had plenty of chances, all that they could muster in the closing stages was a point from determined full back, Katie Egan.At full time, Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn captain, Emma Ní Bhruacháin, was presented with the Camogie "C" trophy by Westmeath Minor Board Secretary, Michael McHugh.Scorers: Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn - S.
