All support will be sincerely welcomed.ClusteringWe have already experienced the benefit of clustering in our three parishes. Looking ahead it is felt that three parishes are somewhat too small.A larger cluster is now seen as the best way of caring for the Pastoral Care of our parishes into the future. It is recommended that Ardagh and Legan will form part of a five parish cluster.BowlsThe bowls season is winding up with two competitions - our own league and the Mary O"Hara trophy competition. The following players have qualified to play in the quarter finals of the league - Enda Murphy v Bill Bennett, Thomas Sullivan v Pat Murphy and Rory Jones v Seamus Moran or Martin Fagan, and Bill Harvey v Ger Cleary. It is hoped to play the quarter finals on Tuesday next and the semi final and final on Tuesday week. The Mary O"Hara tournament is played in honour of a deceased member of the club. This competition is to be played off on Saturday evening next at 5.30p.m. This is open to all members of the club and hopefully there will be a good turnout on the night.FamineIf anyone is aware of a famine burial ground in the parish please send details to Brian Nerney or phone 086 2596656.Boherquill RamblersAfter all the fun and excitement of last weekend"s Walking Festival the Ramblers returned to one of their more peaceful walking locations, Portlick near Athlone, beside Lough Ree. Much of the afternoon"s walk necessitated single-file walking for the group as they followed the narrow path through Whinning Wood, between the carpets of bluebells and ferns beneath the trees. The same trees provided a little shelter from the occasional heavy shower and also were home to the many birds whose songs echoed through the Wood. In the later part of the walk the Ramblers passed Portlick Castle, which was first built in the 12th century by the Dillon family and which, after many reconstructions and extensions through the centuries, now offers luxury accommodation and functions such as mediaeval banquets and wedding receptions. Paddy Croghan led the walk as usual in Portlick and also was a major supplier of tea and sandwiches in the car park at the end of the walk.Next week, on Sunday May 24th, the Ramblers will have an early start for what has previously proven to be a very pleasant walk, along the River Boyne from Navan to Slane. A coach will leave O"Brien"s garage on the Lynn Road in Mullingar at 11a.m. In order to verify numbers, those who wish to travel on the coach are asked to contact Brian on 086-2596656 as soon as possible if they have not already done so.The weather is improving now and so photographic opportunities are arising during each week"s walk. Members are reminded that prizes will be awarded at the end of the year for the best photos entered for the Camera Club competition.Community Games - Results May "09Tiy Tots U4: 1, James Fahy, 2, Thomas Butler, 3, Niamh Corcoran; U6: 1, Ruairí Corcoran, 2, Alex Fahy, 3, Tara Fagan.
