Men"s Club: Results : Monthly Medal May 17/05/09. 1st Ray Flanagan (17) 74net, 2nd Sean Donaghy (11) 74net, 3rd Paul Plant (7) 74net. all on count-back.NotesGUI Junior Cup 2009 played Longford 23-24/05/09We appreciate and acknowledge Tom Flanagan (Manager), and all our New Forest Team. (Saturday) David Bollard (Captain), Paul Plant, Jim Baker, David O"Flanagan, Paul Bray. Adrian O"Reilly and Derek Doyle (Subs). (Sunday) David Bollard (Captain), Eunan Duignan, Paul Plant, Jim Baker, Tony Brennan & Derek Doyle (Sub)Tom"s account was that Saturday started very poorly, with the rain beating down on the first tee box. Only two players parred the first hole. We were soon collectively 18 over through 5 holes, but Tom still felt that we had better to come, and soon enough Paul Bray returned an excellent 39 along with David Bollard (Captain) on the back 9. We finished on 328 collectively and qualified in 2nd place and had Esker Hills Golf Club in matchplay at 9:10 the next day.Sunday started briskly, up in three matches and down in two. It was going to be tight from the word go. Soon in one match we were beaten 5/4 and another 4/3. We were well in control of the other games until unfortunately we lost a ball on the 17th as a result of the very poor ground conditions, a plugged ball that swayed the match.When we lost another match on the 19th, all hope faded. Tom and the Club were very proud of the team of lads that he put together, but as Tom says 'that"s golf!' , and wishes all the best to all the remaining teams.Michael Moore 2009(First Round) played (17/05/09)New Forest will play against Mount Temple Golf Club in the Second Round.
