Le Cheile Oldcastle Arts and Music Festival

The 2009 Le Cheile Festival includes five nights of music acts on its main Phantom105.2 stage at Creans, with other music, comedy and arts spread throughout Oldcastle, including The Red Room, Caffreys, The Fincourt, Naper Arms Hotel and Oldcastle House Hotel, The Gilson School, as well as street entertainment between July 28 to August 3.Building upon past awards and nominations from Meath VEC and Meath Tourism the 12-year-old festival continues to expand its profile and fan base, including link-ups with Ireland"s leading independent music radio Station, Phantom 105.2.This year"s extended festival features music from Lisa Hannigan, Fight Like Apes, Mundy, Declan O Rourke, Delorentos, Ever27, The Barleyshakes, Adebisi Shank, Fiona Melady, Sanzkrit, The Distractors, Noise Control, Sickboy, History Of Harry, Joy Booth, Funzo, Paper Tanks, Ray Heffernan, Henrietta Game and a host of other acts as well as comedy by Jason Byrne and John Henderson.As part of the festival"s full spectrum approach, 2009 includes a range of art, dance and music, children"s workshops, 'Primary Colours' an exhibition by some talented young artists and an exhibition of portrait photography by Dominique Davoust. The Le Cheile Arts Programme is sponsored by Meath County Council Arts Office.Each year Le Cheile nominates a charity to which it makes a contribution from its ticket sales. On Saturday night Le Cheile"s 2009 charity was announced with proceeds from the festival"s Thursday night going to the Navan-based 'The Friends of Mother of Peace'.
