Fine turnout of members
There was a very good "time sheet" for the Bloomfield House Hotel annual gents open singles on Sunday last, with well in excess of two hundred competitors in the field. The course was presented excellently and the weatherman played his part also until late in the evening when the rain spoiled the round for the late starters. The prizes were spread between members and visitors with the top spot going to our own Johnny Geoghegan with an excellent forty one stableford points.John got first prize by the narrowest of margins from seven handicapper Michael Flanagan. Third and fourth prizes went to young Craig Morris (Cill Dara) and Nicholas Cooney (Mullingar) with forty points each also. The best gross went to David Lally with a level par round, while fifth and sixth prizes were won by Alan Grant (The Island) and local sixteen handicapper David McAuliffe, both with thirty nine points on tie break from two others. Again, compliments to all who turned up for the prize presentation on the night.Bloomfield Open full resultsFirst - J. Geoghegan 9, 41 pts; second - MP Flanagan 7, 40 pts; third - C. Earmarked among a number of improving golfers, Attracta is reaping the rewards of effort on the practice fairway and getting hooked on one of sports greatest games. In glorious conditions and en route to a 68 nett, Attracta recorded two birdies, the first at the third and her second at the par 3 fifteenth which was tantalisingly close to a hole-in-one. There can be no argument with good golf and there is no round better than the one which rewards you with a major prize.Hot on Attracta"s heels was Bernadette Solon, another improving golfer with a good golf swing and a solid game. Her score of 70 nett captured second spot with two to spare from Bernie Kelly who was delighted with her round and third place.
