Leinster Gold for Linda Conroy

Congratulations and well done to Linda Conroy, Kilbeggan who won a double Leinster in Tullamore at the Track & Field Championships in Tullamore Harriers Stadium.On Saturday June 20 Linda competed in the 1500m/under 14 in which she achieved a Leinster Gold Medal. On Sunday June 21 she competed in the 800m/under 14 and had a runaway win to get her second Leinster Gold Medal. As soon as the ball was thrown in, it was plain to see what sort of a match this was going to be as every ball was keenly contested and each team had to fight hard for each score.The home team opened the scoring with a point before the Kilbeggan/St Josephs Captain for the day Aaron McNamee replied with two points. During the 1st half James Fox gave an exhibition of blocking mastering the art at least seven times in this period. The score at half time was St Vincents 1.07 Kilbeggan/St Josephs 0.04.St. Vincent"s added 1.02 at the start of the second half to extend the lead to eleven points before Kilbeggan/St Josephs got into the game again. A goal by full-forward Sean Maher was followed by a couple of long range points by James Finnegan which were added to by two Brendan McMahon points. Another home goal followed within a minute to put the game out of reach for Kilbeggan/St Josephs who had both Sean Hanlon and Hugh Boyle carried off injured during the second half.
