Loughnavalley NS nominated for national film awards

St. Baoithín"s NS, Loughnavalley has been nominated to participate in the FÍS National Film Awards to be held in The Helix, Dublin City University at the end of October.Filming, acting and editing has become second nature for the pupils of St. Baoithín"s NS as over the last few months, the pupils worked diligently on their scripts and storyboards. Special care was taken by the film crew, some as young as 5yrs old, to cast the characters and choose the correct camera angles. The final film edited and presented with amazing professionalism show these pupils have a future in the bright lights of filmmaking. The school was nominated to go forward to the national awards after a local film screening last week in St. Etchen"s NS, Kinnegad. Over 100 primary pupils including young filmmakers, actors and directors from schools in the catchment area of Athlone Education Centre attended the screening of their own films. Suspense, humour and intrigue were all part of the day as pupils watched their own creations on the big screen.FÍS is a 'Film in Schools' project supported by the National Centre for Technology in Education and the National Film School in IADT, Dun Laoghaire and organised locally by Athlone Education Centre. Thanks and congratulations to all those who took part in the project.
