Coralstown Kinnegad Under 14"s reach Semi-Finals

The Coralstown/Kinnegad U14 GAA team won matches both Friday evening and Saturday morning at the Feile all Ireland club championships.And were narrowly beaten in the semi finals by De La Salle of Waterford on Saturday evening It was a fantastic achievement to get so far in a national competition as prestigious as the Feile all Ireland club championship. Well done again to all players, coaches and parents as the weekend was a credit to all. Well done to so many supporters who travelled to Kildare to support the team and this fantastic team is sure to give Kinnegad many great days out in the future.National Pride of Place visit KinnegadKinnegad represented Westmeath in the National Pride of Place Competition for the second time in two years with judging last Friday the 3rd July at 2:30 in St Etchens School hall in Kinnegad. The Community Council were anxious to improve on last year"s second place finish and they are very grateful to the following who exhibited on the day: Kinnegad parish, St Etchens School, Clonard 1500, Coralstown Kinnegad GAA, Kinnegad juniors Soccer, Kinnegad Credit union, Killucan Kinnegad Transport Lobby Group, Midlands arts, Westmeath Environment Group, Royal Canal Amenity Group, Kinnegad Tidy Towns, and the Community Garda. After a thirty minute presentation and a visit to the stand for each of these groups the judges were brought on a tour of Serenity house, the Old School, the community hall, the Peoples Park, Main street, the old and present centenary church, Cairdeas Childcare facility, the GAA and soccer facilities, the canal area and Killucan Station. They also visited Heathfield and Manorfield estates who have recently set up residents associations. The national result of the north south competition will be announced on the 21st of November in Newcastle in County Down. The competition is organised by Cooperation Ireland and all the County Councils North and South.Kinnegad Juniors AFC AGM and Player of the Year awardsKinnegad Juniors AFC will hold their AGM next Saturday 11th July in Scanlon"s back lounge at 4pm. Some of the items on the agenda will be election of their 09/10 committee, along with teams and managers for next season, update on our new development and any other business. Everyone is welcome to attend and we would really appreciate and welcome anyone that would like to help us either in a coaching capacity or even just to help with the running of the club, please come along. Following the AGM the club will hold its player of the year presentations along with end of season disco, again in the back of Scanlon"s, times as follows; Under 10"s, 11"s & 12"s 5.30pm - 7.00pm, Under 13"s, 15"s & Girls 7.30pm - 9.00pm. All other activities are now finished for the summer.Coralstown Kinnegad GAA FundraisersCoralstown Kinnegad GAA are having their annual dog night Saturday the 1st of August. There is a special family ticket this year as well as a raffle ticket all in one. The club are also launching a Monster Drive through bingo with 9th page full panel and a guaranteed €2000. It is on sale for €4 in all the churches in the parish.                         Cairdeas Summer CampsThe summer camp programme for July 2009 at Cairdeas Childcare Centre, Killucan Road, Kinnegad is ongoing.   They are also running a Modern Dance Camp for 5 to 13 year olds from Monday 13th July to Thursday 16th July. An Arts & Crafts Camp for 5 to 13 year olds takes place from 20th to 23rd July and a Cookery Camp takes place from 17th to 20th August for the same age groups.  Further details from the centre on 044 9379346.  Please book early to avoid disappointment.PilgrimagesThere is a youth festival in Knock on the 23rd to the 26th of July and you can contact Patricia McKenna on 0860849265.
