In support of Comaskey's Jackson comments

Dear Editor, I have been reading with great interest the letters to the editor recently regards Berne Comaskey's comments on Michael Jacksons death.I am left wondering if people understand what the journalist was saying. I totally agree with the overall sentiment of the article. I don't care that Michael Jackson passed away: that's not to say that he was not a great person, he just wasn't great in my eyes. To be given a talent is a gift, to use it to the best of your ability is crucial, and to fall apart is sad.I have friends, neighbours and relatives who are great people, who use the talents they were given to the betterment of other peoples lives, without fear or favour, without the fame or fortune. If they passed away I would grieve, I would celebrate their lives, for they inspire me .But we are going to be subjected to tales, investigations, probes, never before seen photos, films, custody battles, etc, for the next few months.Does anyone truly believe that any of this is in celebration of Michael Jackson as a man? And need I start about Jade Goody?I'll celebrate the ordinary man, and the journalist who stands up for himPeter BolandMarlinstownMullingar
