Another 'minor' waste of money

Dear Editor, Is it any wonder the country is in the state it is in when the Government come up with the idea of closing the Department of Agriculture District Veterinary Office in Mullingar and moving it to, of course, Brian Cowen's Tullamore? The fact that the Department of Agriculture owns the property in Mullingar and rents property in Tullamore - and will have to rent more space in Tullamore - is only an extra minor waste of money. What will become of the property in Mullingar? It will either be sold off cheaply because of the fall in property values, or let go to ruin and beocme an eyesore. There is also talk of closing the District Veterinary Office in Portlaoise and transferring it to Tullamore, which means more space to be rented in Tullamore. It would make a lot more sense to close the office in Tullamore and transfer the staff to Mullingar and Portlaoise and save money on the rented office in Tullamore.Yours faithfully,Des Walsh14 Oliver Plunkett StreetMullingar
