Local band The Aftermath are set to play the prestigious Electric Picnic festival over three nights, September 4 - 6, and have organised a pre-festival warm-up in Danny Byrnes for Sunday, August 30.The Aftermath are notching up success after success since they released their debut album 'Friendlier Up Here', between recording with Shane McGowan, making a big name for themselves in both London and Sweden, and are now set to play to some 20,000 fans at the Rose of Tralee Festival with The Coronas on August 23.However, securing a three-night stint at Electric Picnic, one of Ireland's truly unique festivals set amid the rolling lawns of Stradbally Hall in County Laois, a beautiful 600 acre estate with a fab line-up of music, art, theatre and comedy, has got the lads all excited:"We're thrilled to be asked to play such a big festival and it's definitely the pinnacle of our careers so far," said Mick Cronin of The Aftermath. With this in mind, the guys have organised the gig in Danny Byrnes, which they will perform along with poetic rapper and Mullingar man, Marty Mullingan of the Picnic's Spoken Word stage. And from Croke Park to Danny Byrnes, Phil Hayes who did the sound for U2 will be doing the sound in Dannys on Sunday, plus a guest appearance by Phantom FM's Lorilee Conlon will also top off the night. The night kicks off at 9.30 and entry is free, so make sure to get yourselves down to Danny Byrnes on Sunday, August 23, for Mullingar's own mini Electric Picnic!
