Gardai investigating Mullingar house fire

Gardaí in Mullingar are investigating the causes of a fire which occurred at a house on the Ballymahon Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.Extensive damage was caused to a number of the interior rooms, and to the roof of the building, which was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.It was a passing member of the public who spot the flames and alerted Gardaí and the emergency services at around 8 a.m. on Saturday. Three units of Mullingar fire brigade and Mullingar Gardaí were in attendance.The Garda investigation into the blaze is continuing.Meanwhile, a business premises on the Castlepollard Road, Collinstown was broken into on the night/morning of Friday/Saturday last, August 21/22.Intruders gained entry to the building by forcing their way in through a rear door, resulting in damage to the door. An amount of cash was stolen.In Mullingar on Tuesday of last week, a car located at a car park off Austin Friar's Street, Mullingar had one of its windows smashed; however, nothing was taken from the vehicle.
