The very cold and blustery weather on Thursday August 27th kept the attendance on the small side at Mullingar where all eleven races were graded contests.Mullingar trainer Frank Seery supplied the winner of the 500 yds first race with Dazzle Em Jan which he trains for his wife Noreen. Running in her thirteenth race without a win she made no mistake on the night when she powered home seven and a half lengths clear from Boola Valley in 31.49. Hawk Eye Paddy broke in front in the 525 yds second race and led into the home straight where Caulry Judy came from off the pace to win by four lengths from the early leader in 30.28. The winner is owned in Moate by Thomas Kerrigan.Co. Meath owners Joseph and P. Gantley supplied the winner of the 400 yds third race with Rathmolyon Rogue. From a very fast start he gave a smashing front running display to win by three and a half lengths from the odds-on favourite Lukes Sam in 22.00.In the 525 yds fourth race Paddys Jack led to the last bend where the chasing Gibstown Lad took control into the home straight and went on to score by two and a half lengths from Coolelan Dusty in 30.38. The winner was recording his first success on his second outing for his Killare owner Thomas Tunney. Road Side Gift did the business in the 400 yds fifth race for his Longford owner Michael Kenny. From a very fast start he made all the running to hold off the challenge of Glenore Nelly by one and a quarter lengths in 22.25 and record his first success on his second outing.From a level break in the 525 yds sixth race Swiss Captain took the lead rounding the first bend and made all the running to hold off the late challenge of Kelban Nicola by half a length in 30.79. This well supported favourite is owned in Rathangan by Robert Roberts.From a level break in the 525 yds seventh race Champagne Harry took control in the back straight and held pole position all the way to score by two and a half lengths from Selra Charity in 30.18. The winner is owned in Tullamore by The Three Plus Two Syndicate. Mullingar owner Sean Mullen supplied the winner of the 550 yds eighth race with Bawnfune Napolii. After getting a flyer from traps she powered home alone five and a half lengths clear from Ciara Boss in 31.14.Tamna Ber was unopposed in the betting market in the 400 yds ninth race and he duly did the business for his trainer Carmel Finnegan and Clones owner Charles Grant. From a very fast break he made all the running to score by an extending five and a half lengths from Lochdara Mein in 21.51.The best return for the 525 yds course of the session was posted in the tenth race by Aranock Blaise which is owned in Tullamore by Noel O'Meara. This six to four winner broke in front and made every yard of the running to win by five and a half lengths from Ardavagga Billy in 29.76. Rhode owner Paddy McCormack supplied the winner of the 525 yds eleventh race with Fahy Royal. This €8,200 to the winner attracted a large entry.Trainer Seamus Graham sent out his representative Kinash Crash to win the opening heat. Racing up front throughout this June '09 raced home by two and a half lengths to the good from Glen Eorna in 21.33. The winner is owned by Miss Fionnula Cashen (Birr).The Vera Croarkin trained Tahina Speed was odds on to do the business in the second heat owned by Jason Croarkin (Fermanagh). He hit the front rounding the opening bend and thereafter he increased from this advantage to score by six lengths from Groovy Captain in 21.47.Karl O'Sullivan (Westmeath) Youngster Growling Billy was always prominent in heat three and although challenged in the final stage by Compass Mikey he held on gamely to win by three parts of a length in 21.46 to record four wins on the trot. The winner is trained by Timothy McAuliffe.Gaytime Derek owned by Timothy O'Connell (Blarney) was always marginally clear in heat four and he just managed to hold on in the dying strides to win by a quarter of a length form Heathfield Gem in 21.71.Yes Boss produced a best of night 21.26 clock to win heat five in impressive style. Trained by Eoin O'Neill for the A Bit of a Laugh Syndicate (Kildare) this well supported favourite stormed home a two and a half lengths winner from Saveyoursavings. Heat six produced a close finish where Ms. Tania Scullys (Cork) Jolly Treasure held off the late challenge of the 5/4 favourite splanc to win by one length in 21.54.Contact by Knockeen Crafty and Awesome Amber provided uptonogood with an unexpected advantage where he powered home by eight and a half lengths from Oldbridge Torres in 21.60 to win heat seven. The winner is owned by the McArdals-Bar Syndicate c/o Benny Treanor (Monaghan).The Bryan Dalton (Florida) owned and the Maurice O'Connor trained Deerfield Sam produced a trap to line display to win heat eight by three lengths from Springwell Sindy in 21.29.Trainer Tommy Bolton sent out his Saving April to do the business in heat nine. Racing up front throughout he held off the challenge of Sandstorm Badger to win by one length in 21.62. The winner is owned by Kevin Proctor (Essex).Karma Royale which was easy to back at 4/1 in heat ten made every yard of the running to win by two and three quarter lengths from Reach for It in 21.61. The winner is trained by Martin Lanney for Jason Pollard (Kildare).Hillcross Orion topped the showing at 5/4 to do the business in heat eleven but it was 6/1 shot Malouda which is owned by Dominic Caul (Dublin). That had the issue to safe keeping as he produced a successful trap to line display to win by two lengths in 21.34.The twelfth heat was won by the John Rainsford trained Ibetx Dot Com who made all the running to hold on by a neck from the fast finishing Royal Ace in 21.52.
